National Signing Day is always a very special day for high school baseball players as the Class of 2019 signs their national letters of intent to play college baseball.
The St. Rita Baseball Program currently has forty-four baseball alums competing in college, and today they added three more as seniors Brendan Carrane (St. Louis), Jalen Greer (Missouri), and Diego Koval (Loras) signed their national letters of intent to play college baseball next year.
Carrane, a 3-year starter for the Mustangs, was an honorable mention all-Catholic League Blue selection for the 2018 season as he led the team in plate appearances (135), average (.352) and on-base percentage (.466) while playing second base.
Greer, another 3-year starter for the Mustangs, also earned honorable mention all-Catholic League Blue recognition last spring as he led the team in doubles (13), and was second in plate appearances (132) and on-base percentage (.458) while playing shortstop.
Koval was 1st-team all-Catholic League Blue as a junior while leading the Mustangs in almost every pitching category, including: innings pitched (66), starts (11), wins (8), strikeouts (52), and earned run average (1.80).
The Mustangs, who finished the 2018 season (21-17), will return five everyday starters and their top three pitchers in 2019 as they look to capture the Catholic League Blue title for the first time since 2015 and their first ever Class 4A state championship.
